narendra-bhideMusic is life for Narendra Sadashiv Bhide (Creative Director, DIPL), one of the contemporary music directors in the Marathi Film, Television and Theatre Industry. Though a Civil Engineer by education, his passion for Music has been evidently known, respected and appreciated.
Narendra’s mother comes from a family, which has made a solid mark in the world of Marathi Theatre. Celebrated actor and director, Shri.Chintamanrao Kolhatkar is Narendra’s great grandfather. Distinguished playwright Shri.Bal Kolhatkar and noted actor Shri.Chittaranjan Kolhatkar are his grandfathers. Eminent director and actor Shri.Dilip Kolhatkar is his maternal uncle (Mama). Narendra’s elder brother, Mohan lives in Vancouver, Canada and is an excellent classical harmonium player. He is a software engineer by profession and accompanies stalwarts like Pt. Jasraj, Sanjeev Abhyankar, Upendra Bhat, and many others when they tour the US and Canada. It is this traditionally strong institution, which has infused talent and nurtured the art of music in Narendra.

Such a strong family structure couldn’t have had a better support than Narendra’s better half, Mukta Narendra Bhide (Managing Director, DIPL). Mukta’s mother, Smt. Madhavi Nanal is a well-known singer of the Gwalior Gharana of Hindustani Classical Music.

Narendra is an accomplished artist in both Hindustani and Western classical music. He started learning Harmonium from Shri. Balasaheb Mate, at an early age. He sat at the feet of prima donnas such as Ustaad Mohammad Hussein Khan, Shri. Sudhir Datar, Sou. Shaila Datar, Shri. Suhas Datar and mastered Hindustani Classical vocals. He got his training in Western Classical Music from Shri. Hemant Godbole. He had an opportunity to get valuable guidance from noted Indian Classical vocalist and a reputed name in Marathi Music Theatre, Swararaj Chhota Gandharva. Since then, Narendra is on his musical journey as a composer, music arranger and the Director of ‘Dawn Infotainment Pvt. Ltd.’, a studio based in Pune. He is also an ‘Approved Composer’ for All India Radio.

In addition to being an independent composer, Narendra has assisted many stalwarts in their musical compositions by playing the role of music arranger. Prominent amongst them are Shri. Anand Modak, Shri. Bhaskar Chandawarkar, Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasiya and Pt. Shivkumar Sharma.

Narendra, along with his friends, produced Marathi film ‘Paulwaat’ in 2011. The film was appreciated in India and abroad and won many awards including Maharashtra state award for music.

Narendra wishes to expand the current setup of Dawn Infotainment Pvt. Ltd. to create a favorable scenario for aspiring students of music and cinema and to provide a launch pad for Indian filmmakers, musicians and technicians to nourish their respective productions in a peaceful environment.
